Crafternoon at Derrawarry Springs!

On saturday, we had a crafternoon here at DS!
Thats right! We spent the whole afternoon doing arts and crafts and what a blast we had!

We found out what citizen Mrs. Georgia Brown's hidden talent is...she's an amazing artist!



We made some terrific stuff! From paintings to paper lanterns.

Derrawarry Springs Cup Carnival

Wowee! The race that stops the nation has begun! Unfortunately we could not afford to send our residents to it. So, at DS we decided to host a Cup Carnival of our own!!!! The race that stops Derrawarry Springs.
Because we couldn't afford horses either, we selected a few lucky citizens to dress up as jockeys to race around the track riding mops instead of horses.
Also, the ladies got crafty, making their very own fashionable fascinators. As well as picking out their best dresses hoping to win our very own fashion on the fields (otherwise known as the bowling green) competition.

The Competition is Finally Over!!1!

Hi D.S citizens and public!1!
We are really excited here because we finally get to reveal the mystery guest! Firstly we will reveal that it is a SHE! Secondly, we will reveal that she has a small job at Derrawarry so it can't be me (Cherie Burteneleigh)! And lastly, we can reveal that she is a radio host!! That's right! It's Sharon McLaren!!! The D.S citizens sounded and looked somewhat dissapointed  but we think that must just be the side effects of being a senior! ANyway, the arrival of Sharon will be in one week's time!
It's quite funnY how none of the citizens guessed that is was Miss McLaren! (yes, I said MISS wink, wink, nudge, nudge, hint, hint......other stuff to say that someone should be dating her!!) They all thought it would be someone even remotely famous! What a joke! They expect too much of us sometimes....

At D.S, the competition is still on as to who the mystery guest is...and remember, this person has to do with Derrawarry Springs (slightly)! Here are some comments made by 2 D.S citizens:

"I think it is Michael Bubbles (we think he means Michael Bublé)because he is always on the top charts of today!" Gregory Kitson
We hated to inform Gregory that he was wrong because Mr. Bublé had nothing to do with Derrawarry Springs and he isn't even Australian...we think.

A comment from a fellow citizen of D.S:
"Oh, it must be that fancy new Lady Gogo because EVERYONE loves her!1!! But I don't want anything to do with that flibbertigibbet.All she does is sing, sing, sing and dance and wear strange things like meat. Back in my day, no one would waste a good carcass of beef, especially the steak!I also would never, ever, EVER sit in an egg like an unborn chicken and...."Regina Carols
We had to stop Ms. Carols there because otherwise it would've taken up too much space!And of course we had to tell Regina that she was wrong! Keep guessing citizens!!

At D.S, we are so excited because we have a mystery guest coming! Of course, the office ladies and Cherie know who it is but it will be a grand surprise for our seniors! This 'person' will be arriving in 1 week and during that time, there will be a competition held! Whoever can guess who is coming wins*!
To kick the "comp" off, we will give everyone a clue... this person has a slight association with Derrawarry!!!1! Let the competition start!

 And Technology week is over on monday, so lets speed things up a bit
 and make Techno week finish today. (Sorry citizens of D.S)
 Because we have more fun things to do to finish the week and month of.
As the citizens might have already noticed, we have got lots of new great movies to watch
for our... MOVIE MARATHON!1!1!
Great movies such as...The Sound Of Music
                                     The Wizard Of Oz and many Shirley Temple movies!!1!
                                      (And many more!1!)

To finish it off, we have our new shared coloured Telly/T.V/Television!!1!

More Additions to Techno Week!!!

In Techno Week, we make sure that our "Golden Oldies" get the best package of all the latest technology! At D.S, we take pride in installing a brand and grand new COLOUR(!1!!1!) Television!

But the only downfall of this brilliant techno-wiz is that we fear that our seniors will get caught up in this new world of tech! To stop this, we have put a lock on the "T.V" so that the seniors can strictly watch 1 hour of T.V a day and although we have a satellite Television, which can reach channels all over the country, we make sure that the only channels to be viewed are channels with only "Infomercials" and "Educational Television" so that our citizens don't see explicit T.V such as "The Simpsons" and "Home and Away" and get caught up in all that flibbertigibbet.

FRiday the 13th!!!!!11!!!

Gee-Wiz!! What a FReaky Friday the 13th it was!!! Last night was full of fun and joy! DEspite some\ of the oldies getting scared,  (Geneveve was missing for a few hours but we later found her hiding under a rose bush - OUCH!) we had a great party with SCAAAARRRRRYYYY costumes (although we made sure they weren't too scary e.g. ghosts)!!!

D.S Techno Week!!1!

 We are very excited here at Derrawarry Springs this week, because this particular
week is the Derrawarry Springs' Techno Week!1!

There will be computer games, itunies music e.g, the latest songs by Nicky Webster (a singing sensation for the youth) and many more things!

For those citizens who are not in the techno text group, here's some of the things we have been learning...

"Well, I think it is amazing and lots of fun to learn about the technology of today!
It is very ingenious that the youth can come up with such useful symbols to
use, but it does take a while to learn if you're like me! My girlfriends and I are addicted to texting each other with these radical symbols! Wow-wee! The technology of today! P.S, we love the new windex computers, or whatever the gizmos are called!" 

Derrawarry Easter

We know it is I a bit late to post this, but the funny thing is…WE FORGOT TO!1!

MAYOR’S MESSAGE:

Wow-wee! What an Easter it has been!

This month’s dart is to keep you updated with all the Easter fun we have been having, and all the “Awesome” (as the youth like to say) events we have coming up!

Hope all of you citizens of D.S have had a spectacular time and very happy Easter.

As usual, we had our amazing egg hunt on Easters day.

But not chocolate eggs…our hunt has a twist!

Whoever finds the most chocolate, gets three eggs to make an omelette for breaky!

Well, you know the drill!
